santa_clara_winThis is how I feel to be back in the US, really freakin happy. I spent the past three weeks in Cuba shooting the Vuelta a Cuba stage race. 15 stages, 1800km, 8 trillion helpings of rice-n-beans, 18 different hotels, a 250cc East German moto, over 2,000 images, and uncounted frustrating moments, all in the insane island just 90 miles from Florida.

Cuba is far and away the most intense trvale experience I have ever had. The weather was great, the people amazing, and their circumstances unimaginably dire. Cubans have nothing and their country is falling apart around them. Once beautiful houses are all but crumbling. There is no paint to keep them up. I could go on, and will, once I straighten it out in my own mind.

The racing was cool. I spent every stage riding on the afore mentioned moto, my butt was killing me by the end. The images were incredible, a little bit of everything, from the countryside to the racing itself. Look for more images and thoughts in the coming days. I’m in Miami tonight and get home to NH tomorrow. I cannot wait.

Could you put up a gallery of the cuba shots? Your trip sounds like a great opportunity to see a country that I’ve always been intrigued with. Hope to go someday myself, maybe to shoot the Vuelta….
