I Went to China, and…

Smile

….you cannot blog from there. no kidding. At least I couldn’t. The Chinese government blocks a lot of blog providers, mine included. I wasn’t surprised. The shooting was fun, this wasn’t a work trip at all, which took the pressure off and let me shoot just exactly what I wanted. Flew back last night and am now deep in the throws of recovering from 24 hrs of travel. More images to follow, but I take off again on Monday, this time for Belgium. And that’s work.

Space 1999

Space 1999

H-Bomb said this shot from the shoot yesterday looks like it was taken from the Space 1999 playbook. Two days in the studio after yet another day of scratched location shooting on Monday. If you’re keeping track, and I am, this is shoot number 4 this winter that I’ve had to cancel because of weather. Yes, it is frustrating. But the buffer the frustration I’m taking a big old trip: to China. Heading over there with my dad to do some sightseeing and shooting, playing tourist - which I’m not particularly adept at. Then right after I get back - three days to be exact - it’s off to Belgium for a rendezvous with the Spring Classics. Nice. Maybe the snow will have melted by then but I’m far from certain.

Calm

That momentFinally got my film from California back and fired up the scanner. Here’s that moment right before the start house. I remember the feeling from right before we launched for races in college: standing around in the boathouse trying to relax when every nerve in your body is crying for full-on exertion. I remember the quiet moments almost more than the racing itself. Know what I mean?
